Make a Day of It: Things to Do Near 744 Experience

744 Experience sits in the Cheshire countryside near Tattenhall, surrounded by castles, walking trails and proper country pubs, so it's easy to turn your session into a full day out rather than a quick there-and-back visit. Here's how to make the most of the area either side of your flight.

Castles Right on the Doorstep

Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle sit just a short drive away, and both are worth the detour. Beeston, managed by English Heritage, perches on a sandstone crag with views across eight counties on a clear day, along with England's deepest castle well. Peckforton Castle, a striking Victorian country house built in the style of a medieval fortress, now operates as a hotel and restaurant, making it a good option for a meal either side of your session.

Stretch Your Legs on the Sandstone Trail

If you fancy some fresh air before or after your flight, the Sandstone Trail runs right through this part of Cheshire, with a well-loved circular route linking Beeston and Peckforton Castles across roughly 5.6 kilometres of woodland and farmland. It's a moderate walk with a few climbs, but the views over the Cheshire Plain and glimpses of both castles along the way make it a rewarding way to spend a couple of hours.

Refuel at The Pheasant Inn

The Pheasant Inn, tucked into the countryside near Beeston, is an AA Rosette awarded country pub with rooms, and a popular stop for walkers coming off the Sandstone Trail. It's a good option for lunch or dinner around your session, or for staying over if you're travelling from further afield.

Family Day? Add the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

If you're bringing the family and want to build in something for younger children too, the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm is nearby, with an outdoor play area and animal section alongside its ice cream parlour. It's worth noting that 744 Experience itself has a recommended minimum age of 12 for flying, though this is more of a guideline than a strict rule; if your child is younger and you think they'd love it, give us a call before booking and we can work out together whether it's the right fit.

Make a Weekend of It

For visitors travelling further, Carden Park, a large hotel and spa resort with two golf courses, and Peckforton Castle both offer overnight stays close by, making it easy to turn your visit into a proper weekend away rather than a single afternoon.
